Brakes & Brake Repair: How often should you service your brakes?

Park Automotive Brake Service

You never really think about your brakes. They’re just there, and you rely on them every drive, until you start noticing slight indifferences. Your pedal feels different, you’ve got to push a little harder. There’s a slight squealing sound or a vibration in your steering wheel. These are all indicators that something is wrong.

We’ve created a Park Automotive Brake Service for you. When you come in for any brake problem, our Park Automotive Service Experts conduct a 55-point inspection of your brakes. With this inspection, your personal Park Automotive Service Expert will thoroughly explain your vehicle’s current condition and tell you which problems are the highest priorities (and which problems can wait). Your best options will be discussed, based upon your budget, prior to performing any repairs. It is our Park Automotive philosophy that the customer comes first. Your safety is our utmost concern.

Types of Brake Services at Park Automotive

55-Point Brake Inspection: Part of routine maintenance, including diagnosing why your brake light is on, and why your pedal feels cushioned.

Brake Pad Replacement: Routine brake maintenance.

Brake Rotor Service: Smooth out brake pad wear or replace if necessary. This completes the brake pad replacement service.

Brake Shoe Replacement: Similar to replacing your brake pads, for drum style brakes.

Brake Drum Service: Similar to brake rotor service, only for drum style brakes.

Brake Fluid Service: Includes brake fluid exchange and brake fluid leak repairs.

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Service: Diagnosis of ABS sensors and system computer module.

Brake Repair Service: This service includes all parts of the brake system, from the power brake booster to the parking brake assembly.

Let the experts at Park Automotive take the guesswork out of your next brake repair. Whether the light on your dash has just come on, or you’re noticing sounds and indifferences in your pedal and braking, we have the services to help diagnose and get you back on the road safely, and with peace of mind.

Replacing brake rotor

Common brake services include:

  • Brake pad or brake shoe replacement
  • Brake rotor resurfacing or brake drum turning
  • Brake rotor or drum replacement
  • Brake fluid exchange or flushing
  • Brake line leak repair
  • Brake light diagnosis

What’s included in a brake job depends on where each part is in its lifecycle. A brake inspection should include a check of all brake parts and connectors, dashboard lights, external brake lights, brake fluid condition, and hydraulic pressure through the brake lines.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SERVICE MY VEHICLE?

Depending on usage and brake pad type, most brake systems will need service every 50,000-120,000 km. Your brakes are important for vehicle safety, so reference your owner’s manual for recommended upkeep. Have your brakes inspected at every oil change, or any time you hear anything out of the ordinary. Grinding, squeaking noises, or vibrations in your steering wheel are all good indicators your brake system needs servicing.

At Park Automotive, we service all Makes & Models within but not limited to the Sherwood Park and Edmonton Area. We can get you in for same day appointments with a complementary 6 Month free Roadside Assistance with every service.
